If there’s one thing we know about Austin brides, it’s that they aren’t afraid to think outside the box when it comes to their wedding aesthetic and go for something completely unique! Typically, brides have only a few common styles to choose from for bridesmaids’ attire. Enter: Margaret Collection. This Texas-based bridesmaids’ boutique offers one-of-a-kind designs for your ‘maids, and if you’re looking for something custom, they can do that, too! Owner and designer Meggie realizes that finding a style that’s universally flattering on all of your girlfriends can be tricky. “We truly try hard to come up with designs that can be flattering and comfortable on most body types. Dress shapes that are universally flattering tend to be strapless bra-friendly, have a nipped in waist, and don’t hug too tightly.”

Meggie also offers this advice for brides when they’re thinking about bridesmaids’ styles: “The bridesmaid dresses should contribute to the overall style of the event, so you want to have some details in place already, like your venue, what the dress code will be, the time of day the wedding will take place and what colors you will use.”

Once you’ve figured out those details, consider having your bridesmaids wear something fun and different. After all, isn’t your wedding supposed to be fun and different, too? For inspiration, we’ve curated four completely unique styles of bridesmaids’ attire from the one and only Margaret Collection. All of them are hand-made in Texas and come in a variety of colors to match your wedding’s aesthetic. Which one is your fave?

6 Ways to Make a Grand Exit on Your Wedding Day

Fireworks
With the holiday upon us, it’s no surprise that the first grand exit idea on our list is ending the night with a fireworks display. Not only do fireworks make an incredible backdrop for some awe-worthy photo moments, but yours guests’ jaws will hit the ground seeing this surprise on the way out the door.

Sparklers
Sparklers are a wedding staple – and for good reason! Guests get to join in on the sendoff, AND the lighting makes for a fun photo moment, especially when the groom dips his bride back for that oh-so-romantic kiss.

Helicopter
Dare we say, nothing surprises guests more than a helicopter waiting just outside the venue for the newlyweds. Better yet, surprise your groom with the ultimate ride out. If you want to go BIG, then renting a helicopter or a similar transportation alternative (perhaps a boat if you’re by water?) might be a good option for you.

Vintage Car
Another classic getaway – make your exit in a vintage car rental. We love to see couples dress up their rides, whether it be a Rolls Royce or a Bentley, with floral swag and “Just Married” signage. This is one grand exit that won’t go out of style anytime soon.

Balloon Send-off
For a fun and more interactive end to the night, opt for a balloon sendoff. Prep white balloons for your guests to release with well wishes for the newlyweds as you bolt through the crowd. Take it up a notch and have your lighting vendor at the ready to spotlight those babies for even better photos and a glowing night sky.

Smoke Bombs
One of the newest and most unique sendoffs we’ve seen lately was a smoke bomb line! For a colorful and non-traditional exit, smoke bombs are a must! Note: this idea works best with more intimate events so end up purchasing less and will have less cleanup.

Red velvet isn’t just for cake – in fact, it’s the running theme behind this incredibly gorgeous modern vintage wedding scene at Mae’s Ridge, a new venue in Johnson City! Punchy colors of plum, red and black, along with textures galore everywhere you turn give plenty of inspiration. Each and every detail speaks volumes! From the Whim Hospitality furniture rentals in the table and lounge area featuring brushed gold tables, gold and glass bar-back, and flowing florals, to the dessert table with a stunning red tablecloth beneath a hand-brushed cake, this scene is giving us all the heart eyes. White and black anemones add a pop to the heavy red florals and accent pieces, while on the tablescape, vintage silver flatware and chargers beneath matte black stationery and romantic light pink accents make for dreamy place settings. Holding a deeply saturated bouquet with red velvet vibes itself, the bride wore a one-of-a-kind creation with a lace bodice and flowing, ethereal chiffon skirt by Moonlight and MossMae’s Ridge offers a beautiful minimalistic modern interior space, but on this beautiful day, the floral-filled altar was set up beneath the oak trees with a sweeping Hill Country view – we’re obsessing over this whole scene and know you will be too! Cheers!

From the planner: “This was a truly collaborative effort in every sense of the word. Everyone brought their A-games and pitched in whether it was their scene or not. The day was beautiful as are the photos that came after!”

Austin brides, we’re so happy to introduce to you Kelli Coyle of Design to Flourish! Kelli considers herself a true southern girl, despite a stint on the east coast for college, and loves sporting a bright swipe of lipstick on the daily. She offers calligraphy, signage and custom gifts for couples who love a refined, classic look and want their details to make a statement! “My area of expertise has always been pointed pen calligraphy,” Kelli says. “There is just something about that hand-touched element that really adds those special details to your wedding day.”

For Kelli, the best part of the job is getting to see a couple’s reactions in person when they see their design come to life. “I love being able to deliver something that is exactly what they envisioned, if not better!” Elizabeth Denny Photography captured Kelli as she created an oh-so-sophisticated suite, complete with a personalized watercolor map, at Trinity Hall in downtown Austin. We hope you enjoy our chat below with her as we round out our Austin invitation designer spotlight series! Describe the design you created for this shoot
: I’ve been really into emerald green lately and have been breaking out my watercolor palette in my spare time, so I knew I wanted to incorporate these two elements into the design. I always love when couples want to add a personal touch to their invitations, and a map of your city is the perfect way to do this. You can add your go-to spot to grab a bite, your favorite music venue, or the place where you first met, and it then becomes a picture of your relationship.

What inspires your overall designs? My couples! The best ideas usually come out of “I don’t know if this is possible, but…” and we get to create something that is totally unique for them.

What elements in your personal design/style set you apart in the wedding industry? I’m constantly trying out new mediums to work on. I’m always testing inks on different types of paper, fabrics and tiles. I’ve spent quite a bit of time roaming the aisles of Home Depot thinking about what else I can write on.

What are some trends you’re loving right now? Acrylic is a pretty big trend for wedding signage and I’ve enjoyed working on everything from place cards to six-foot-tall seating charts. I have also been seeing more requests for vellum come up, and I’m pretty excited about this one. There are so many things you can do with vellum, and let’s be honest – it’s just downright pretty!

So how did the name Design to Flourish come to be? “Even though I started out doing purely calligraphy, I knew I eventually wanted to expand into other areas of design,” Kelli explains. “The name came from the idea of collaborating with clients on everything from the initial design details to the last finishing flourishes!” To inquire with Design to Flourishvisit Kelli’s Brides of Austin vendor profile! Three Reasons To Plan Your Summer Wedding Indoors at The Driskill

One of the most popular times to tie the knot is in the summertime, but let’s be honest – that Austin heat can be killer! In order to stay cool in the heat of summer, an indoor wedding is a must. With so many reasons to go take your celebration inside, it’s no surprise that we enlisted The Driskill to share their indoor wedding tips and tricks! Read on for the luxe venue’s helpful advice from wedding specialist Kristin Prindle!

Beat the Heat and Rain Stress

When you plan an indoor wedding, there’s no need to worry about bad weather or rain ruining your day! You will have everything well-protected from the outdoor elements. “It’s so important to love your venue,” says Kristin, “It becomes a part of your life-long memories and the backdrop for each cherished photo. The fact of the matter is, that most brides don’t feel the same way about their backup plan. With an indoor wedding, your plan A is the only plan and can be perfectly designed to how you envision it.” Not only will your venue stay safe from the rain, wind or treachery outside – but temperature controlled rooms are much more appreciated during those hot Texas summers. Stay cool and have a stress-free wedding when you opt for indoors!

Have Your Outdoor Decor, Indoors

You might think having an outdoor wedding provides more of a blank canvas for your wedding day, but the outdoors can always be brought in! When you choose an outdoor wedding, your backdrop is often limited to one or two views. A historic property has countless unique photo opportunities to showcase your big day. Choose from a grand staircase, beautiful stained glass doorways and ceilings, a rustic Texas bar and iron statue, an opulent lobby – the list goes on! It’s often easier to customize your décor and transform a space through lighting and drapery. Florals and greenery can also be added to bring nature into your space. “Nature is beautiful, so bring those elements inside with your decor. I enjoy seeing greenery on walls and columns, cascading floral centerpieces, edible flowers on cakes and more!” The possibilities are endless!

Save on the Costs

Engaged couples can often save a lot of money when holding their Austin wedding in the summer.“When hosting an outdoor wedding, you have to take into account all of the additional costs such as a tent, AC units, lighting, flooring, etc.,” says Kristin, “These items add up very quickly and can often go over your initial budget. When planning an indoor wedding, you don’t have to worry about many of these unexpected costs.” You will also see lower venue rental fees, food and beverage minimums, and lower hotel room rates for the couples and their guests. Overall, we would call that a win-win and something worth saying yes to!
